El 22 de febrero de 2012 la formación CHAPA 16 impactó contra la plataforma de la estación terminal Once del ferrocarril Sarmiento de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. “¿Cómo es el ruido del hierro cuando se dobla, cuando se encoge, cuando se destroza al abandonar su molde industrial originario para convertirse en otra cosa, en un metal mortal? ¿Cómo es el crujido del hierro que será un sonido que retornará y retornará siempre a las memorias de los sobrevivientes..?”
CHAPA 16 es el primer álbum de Pablo Chimenti. Esta conmovedora pieza para voz solista y electroacústica toma como punto de partida la tragedia ferroviaria de 2012 en la Estación Once de Buenos Aires para producir una música a la vez perturbadora y emotiva. Procesos electrónicos conviven con la prístina voz de la soprano Cecilia Mazzufero, que emerge como un sonido de belleza inaudita del sofisticado tratamiento sobre el paisaje sonoro de materiales ferroviarios.
On February 22nd 2012, the “CHAPA 16” train crashed against the terminal station of the Sarmiento railway in the neighborhood of Once, City of Buenos Aires. “What is the sound of iron like when it bends, when it shrinks, when it destroys itself whilst abandoning its original industrial mold to become something else, to become a lethal metal? What is the crunching of iron like, that sound that will always return, again and again, to the memories of the survivors…?”
CHAPA 16 is Pablo Chimenti’s debut album. This deeply moving piece for solo voice and electroacoustic sounds references the tragedy occurred in 2012 at Estación Once main train station in Buenos Aires, to produce a shocking and emotional music. Electronic processes coexist with the clear voice of soprano Cecilia Mazzufero, which emerges like a beautiful and unique sound out of the sophisticated treatment of the railway station soundscape.
